MAPLEWOOD, NJ - On a warm summer night, Maplewood and South Orange residents gathered to set up for Maplewood’s historical rummage sale.  Morrow Church’s United Methodist Women sponsor the annual sale, which was described this year in New Jersey Monthly magazine.

As first volunteers gathered to set up the sale, early donations arrived, too.  The church accepts donations from now until July 12.  The sale begins on July 1.

The Maplewood sale, which begins on July 1, is an 81-year-old tradition in the community.  Run by volunteers for the benefit of local organizations, the sale has seven dates and welcomes some 1000 customers through the doors of the church and tent.

The sale relies on a team of volunteers, and all proceeds benefit local organizations.  In past year, the Turnover Sale has purchased defibrillators and supplies for a shelter.  Even donated goods that don’t sell are passed along to a cadre of agencies.  Unsold items are donated to Goodwill Industries, The Methodist Home in Ocean Grove, the Burn Center in Newark, American Rescue Workers, CUMAC, PCCI, Habitat, Essex County Family Violence and more.

Locals can also donate by dropping off items at the Baker Street door at anytime.

Grand Opening: Sat. July 5, 9-12

Tuesdays: July 8 and 15, 9-12

Thursdays: July 10, 7-9pm

Saturdays: July 5, July 12, 9-12

Morrow Church, 600 Ridgewood Rd. Maplewood NJ

Sponsored by the UMW to benefit mission projects local and global.
