WESTFIELD, NJ — In honor of Earth Day, the town of Westfield invites individuals, families and groups to volunteer for a spring cleanup event at green spaces all over town on Saturday, April 26, with a rain date of April 27.
Volunteers are encouraged to bring a pair of gloves and a rake, if possible, and arrive at one of the following locations between 10 a.m. and noon, where a member of the town council or Green Team will coordinate clean-up activities: Brightwood Park, Gumbert Park (next to the basketball courts along North Avenue), Grove Street at Grandview Avenue, Memorial Park or Tamaques Park (in the picnic area).
Also, volunteers can help clean up and plant at Mindowaskin Park from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. with Friends of Mindowaskin Park (FOMP). Volunteers for this park should meet at the bandstand. FOMP will provide bagels, coffee and juice.
Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts who need to fulfill community service requirements are welcome to participate at any location. Minors must be supervised by a parent or adult guardian.
Drop-ins are welcome, but advance registration is encouraged. Email names and location you plan to assist to Mayor@westfieldnj.gov.
