From Dec. 1, 2010 through Jan. 17, 2011, JerseyArts.com invites the public to vote for their favorite nonprofit arts groups in its third annual People’s Choice Awards. The categories range from theater and performing arts center, to museum and gallery, to symphony and dance company (along with many more -15 total). Last year, over 6000 people cast their ballot, resulting in the 2009 win for Paper Mill Playhouse as Favorite Professional Theater.  This year, Paper Mill Playhouse is nominated again for Favorite Professional Theater, along with Favorite Arts/Theater Camp.

The winners will be announced in February online at JerseyArts.com and via email to all the voters. Recipients will formally receive their awards in a ceremony at The Governor’s Conference on Tourism in March 2011. Paper Mill Playhouse is thrilled to have been nominated again in the category of Favorite Professional Theater (Equity). Additionally, Paper Mill Playhouse is very excited to have been nominated for the first time in Favorite Arts/Theater Camp.

“We are committed to providing outstanding opportunities for talented people of all ages that are educational and enriching,” said Mark S. Hoebee, Producing Artistic Director of Paper Mill Playhouse. “Programs like our Youth Theatre, Adult classes and our Summer Conservatory give students a supportive environment in which to learn and explore elements of performance. We are honored to have been nominated for these awards directly from the community that we serve.”

Jersey Arts Marketers (JAM) member organizations submitted online ballots to determine which groups would be nominated in each category. Groups that won in 2009 were automatically nominated for 2010 in their respective categories. The online poll is not considered scientific nor does it intend to make any evaluations as to artistic achievement or excellence; instead, it is designed to give the public a voice in determining the most popular arts institutions in New Jersey. Polls are open from Dec. 1, 2010 through Jan. 17, 2011. Vote at http://JerseyArts.com/PeoplesChoice .
