HAMBURG, NJ - The LLD Class at Wallkill Valley High School spent an hour Friday, October 16th learning more about New Jersey State Government and the role of a State Senator through a zoom visitation with State Senator Oroho. Oroho is the Senator for the 24th Legislative District.
The LLD class consists of nine students grades nine through12 who have been learning about both the United States and New Jersey Government. Their teacher, Karen Carter contacted the Senator’s office to inquire if he would be able to speak to the class about his role as a State Senator. With the pandemic the Senator would not be able to physically attend, but "through the use of zoom the visit was a go."
The Senator met with the class, discussed his role as Senator and answered questions from the students. Some questions included:
- “What is the thing you are most proud of from your years being Senator?”
- “How do you handle disagreements?”
- “What is the most challenging part of your job,” and
- “What is your vision for Sussex County?”
The students were engaged throughout the entire meeting and the Senator stated how happy he was to speak to the class and to help increase their knowledge of government. The Senator made sure he answered each of the student’s questions and spoke about different ways each one of us can be an active participant in Government.
The class said, “Thank you Senator Oroho for meeting with our LLD Class at Wallkill Valley High School.”
