EDISON, NJ -- Students, parents, alumni, faculty and friends at The Wardlaw+Hartridge School in Edison enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate winter athletics at the annual Winter Games, sponsored by the Booster Club.
The W+H basketball and swim teams hosted contests in Laidlaw Gym, Plumeri Gym and the Raymonds Aquatic Center as the cheer squads pumped up the crowd. The Booster Club fired up the grills and served ballgame fare while also selling hoodies, t-shirts, three-quarter zips and more W+H gear.
Fans enjoyed exciting athletic contests and also honored W+H senior Ryan Petela of Clark, who reached the 1,000-point milestone earlier in the week in a home game vs. Dunellen. Ryan’s 1,000-point sign was unveiled in Laidlaw Gym. The Rams split the four contests, with the JV boys’ basketball and varsity swim teams prevailing.
The nightcap featured W+H alumni competing in an exciting basketball game. The Green team, coached by Athletic Director Karl Miran, captured a thrilling 57-56 victory over the White team, coached by Andrew Webster, Head of School. During the halftime break, Ryan Petela swished a shot from halfcourt to win a $100 gift card in the Booster Club’s Hot Shot Contest.
