WARREN, NJ - Warren Township residents will vote on a “ No Tax Impact” Referendum on Jan. 22. Voters in Warren Township will decide the future of a $6.5 million zero-tax impact referendum that allows for a combination of the District’s capital reserves and state aid for ZERO TAX IMPACT as a result of the referendum. With voter support, the state will provide approximately $2.2 million of aid for the projects with the remainder to be paid out of the district’s capital reserves, in full, with no impact on the tax levy.
Information on the referendum from the Warren Township Board of Education is as follows:
The Warren Township School District is in need of capital improvements to maintain school facilities and provide for the health and safety of students and staff. The District has been methodically saving for such needs through its capital reserve fund for several years. The District will receive approximately 34% of the project costs from the state if the referendum described below receives voter approval. If the referendum fails, the Board of Education would need to provide 100 percent of the funding.
