WEST CALDWELL, NJ - All roads in the township were reopened on Sunday, according to West Caldwell police, after the massive rains Saturday morning and afternoon caused flooding and several road closures.
The Orton Road bridge was shut down Saturday, and Passaic Avenue was closed because of flash flooding. The following video was taken at the corner of Park and Bloomfield Avenues in Caldwell:
Major flooding also caused road closures in the neighboring township of Fairfield, and the Breaking News Network also reported that three manholes caught fire on Bloomfield Avenue. More information will be shared as it become available.
Nine of the 12 weekends since Memorial Day have seen measurable rainfall in New Jersey, according to NJ 101.5 meteorologist Dan Zarrow's weather blog. And this weekend's rain may not be over yet. Showers and thunderstorms remain in Sunday's forecast, with additional rain predicted for Monday and Tuesday.
