Watchung Hills All Classes Reunion to be Held on May 31

March 4, 2014 at 10:07 AM

WARREN, NJ - Watchung Hills All Classes Reunion will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Forest Lodge in Warren from noon to 5 p.m.

Tickets will be offered at an advanced purchase price of $60 for adults and $35 for children (ages 4 to 11) until Thursday, March 20, at noon.  After this deadline, tickets will be offered at the regular price of $65 for adults and $40 for children until May 11. Tickets will not be sold at the event. Children under 4 may attend for free.

Registration for reunion and ticket purchases can only be made online through the reunion website.

The All Classes Reunion is open to all age 21 and over who attended Watchung Hills Regional High School and all who have worked at WHRHS, and their guests.  The reunion will feature music performances from alumni, including Bob Lanza and the Bob Lanza Blues Band, Alan LeBoeuf, Chip Mergott, and Mike Fiore and his band, Nasty Habits.

Reunion organizer, Russ Schumacher, a member of the Class of 1977 at Watchung Hills, said that early ticket sales have gone well.   “We are expecting a large turnout across several decades of alumni,” Schumacher said.  “We have mini-reunions within the mega reunion that are forming, including gatherings of siblings from across the country who are using the event to head home for a weekend together.”  John Baehr, retired social studies teacher/class advisor/coach, will be attending and is organizing a mini-reunion of members of the Reach Out Club.

The reunion event will be a large picnic with an extensive menu.  For those interested in engaging in physical activities, the Forest Lodge pool will be open and attendees can play softball, badminton, horseshoes, basketball, volleyball, and ping pong.  For children accompanied by parents, there is a playground.

On the morning of the reunion at 9:30 a.m., a tour of the high school will be offered.  On the day after the reunion, Sunday, June 1, reunion attendees have the opportunity to participate in the Bob Beckert Memorial Scholarship 5K Run/Walk.  The funds benefit scholarships for graduating WHRHS students.  Bob was a member of the Class of ’76 who tragically lost his life in an automobile accident 10 years ago when he was headed home from a business trip.  The website for the Run/Walk, which starts and finishes at WHRHS, is www.run4rjb.com.

Additional information about the reunion can be found on Facebook on the Watchung Hills All Classes Reunion event page accessible through the Watchung Hills Alumni Facebook page.  For additional information, contact Russ Schumacher at rjs28@georgetown.edu.
