Watchung Hills Boys Lacrosse Defeats Oratory, 15-4, In Warren

April 28, 2014 at 10:58 PM

WARREN, NJ -  Coming off a victory over Montgomery on Senior Day, the Watchung Hills boys lacrosse team kept rolling, defeating Oratory, 15-4.

Alec Orazietti had an astounding game for the Warriors, accumulating 11 points on four goals and seven assists. He has 23 goals and 23 assists on the year.
“They [the offense] cut the whole game and since Oratory ran a zone, I had no pressure and all the time in the world to feed and look for cutters,” said Orazietti on the offense’s big performance.

The Warriors would not have gotten off to such a hot start if it weren’t for Captain and face-off specialist, Zack Melillo. Melillo went 19-1 on face-offs, finishing the game with a 95 percent win rate. Frank Butrico also had two face-offs, going 1-1 in two attempts.

“This is a game we had to come out and win. Offensively we had multiple contributions, while defensively we locked down,” said Melillo.

Melillo also finished the game with a goal, while Sean Mullaney and Tyler Furlong also added a goal. Chris Irving had an assist.

Ryan Cunningham, Orazietti, and John Tekin finished with four goals in the win.

“On extra man opportunities, they really spun the ball around fast and we were able to swing open a couple lanes. The guys kept their heads up and we were all able to work off ball and feed each other well,” said Tekin.

Jack Ayre played a half, holding Oratory to just one goal, while saving three shots. He improved his record to 5-3. Nick Malinousky finished the game in goal, saving two shots while letting in three goals.

Captain Matt Rozmerski and the defense played well to force ground balls, which led to more possession time on offense.

“Defensively we just played calm and composed. We didn’t get out of our game plan, and executed what coach told us to do,” said Rozmerski, commenting on the game.

The Warriors will play West Morris Central at home on Saturday, May 3, in their first night game of the year.

‘A Child’s Christmas in Wales' Captures Old-Fashioned Nostalgia at Shakespeare Theatre

MADISON, NJ – It’s clear the Welsh love to sing as the evening moves on with relatives gathering for Christmas dinner at the Thomas home in Wales.

Family Portraits After the Death of a Family Member

One of the gifts of working in the field of children’s grief support is the support I receive from my family and friends. They always have their eyes peeled for interesting articles that relate to grief and loss. Usually they send the articles to me with a kind note, like “this made me think of you” or “thought you’d be interested in this!”

A few days ago my ...

When one reads an historical novel by Philippa Gregory, s/he is transported magically through the power of words to that era. Given the turbulence of the recent political scene in America, returning once again to the complicated and violent Tudor reign helped me to escape the ugliness of the ...
