
WARREN, NJ - "Not in Our Towns” has invited two Watchung Hills High School seniors, Catherine Higgins & Engy Gadelmawla as well as two Watchung Hills' teachers, Jamie Lott-Jones and Mary Sok, to the annual National Leadership “Not In Our Towns” conference in Billings, Montana at the end of June.
Higgins and Gadelmawla gave a presentation about their efforts and their upcoming trip to Montana to the members of The Watchung Warren Rotary. To support the two students and their teachers in their endeavors, the Rotary gave a $1000 donation to the two young women at the June 3 meeting held at Twin Brooks Country Club located in Watchung,.
On June 20, educators and students from around the nation will convene in Billings for an inspiring day of stories, tools, and strategies for promoting school safety and inclusion. Higgins and Gadelmawla will be participating in the opening ceremonies and have been asked to be conference presenters. The two High School seniors have been asked to speak about the successful anti-bullying campaign they first began in 2010 at Watchung Hills.
Their innovation and creativity has led to national recognition of their efforts and has included initiatives such as the production of The Watchung Hills High School cyber-bullying video and the first ever White Out held at the High School to promote anti-bullying and inclusion,.
