Water Main Break on Madison Hill

July 3, 2014 at 6:49 PM

CLARK,NJ - New Jersey American Water Company is reporting a water main break in a 36-inch cast iron pipe running under the stream bed parallel to the Madison Hill Road bridge.  Crews are working to determine the extent of the damage.  Scott Schreiber of NJ American Water said the time needed to repair the pipe will be determined by whether the pipe has a hole or a split.

Contractors are on the scene and the heavy equipment needed to begin repairs is on the way.  Repairs may be impacted by the severe weather and possible flash flooding predicted for the area tonight.

Schreiber said residents on Russell Court, Melvin Court and Jarvis Terrace will be without water until the repairs are completed.  NJAW has water bottles enroute to home owners on those streets. Water service has been restored to other areas of town. Water flow has been diverted to smaller mains so residents may experience reduced pressure for a time.
