PARKLAND, FL- Florida reported 5,571 new cases of COVID-19 and 83 deaths on Wednesday.

Florida has vaccinated a total of 8,228,278 and 5,314,185 have completed the series. Broward County has vaccinated 756,055 and 474,342 have completed the series.

The percent of positive results ranged from 6.26% to 8.54% over the past 2 weeks and was 6.26% on Tuesday, April 20, 2021. The percentage calculated is for people that test positive for the first time and does not include people that had previously tested positive.

Here are the current COVID-19 numbers according to the Florida Department of Health as of Wednesday, April 21, 2021:

Florida: 2,184,354 confirmed cases, an increase of 11,216 since Monday. 

Broward County: 2230,312 total confirmed cases, an increase of 1,239 since Monday. 

Parkland: 2,671 total confirmed cases, an increase of 13 since Monday. 

Coral Springs: 13,425 total confirmed cases, an increase of 67 since Monday. 

Deaths in Florida related to COVID-19: 34,616 an increase of 145 since Monday.  

Broward County: 9,828 (4.3%) total hospitalizations with 2,813 (1.2%) deaths due to COVID-19. Deaths increased by 29 since Friday. The median age is 38.

Broward County Percent Positive: 8.3% per the latest data on April 12, 2021.

Broward County Hospital Bed Availability: Hospitals have 974 (18.0%) beds available and 90 (17.6%) adult ICU beds available per the latest data on April 13, 2021.

Parkland Schools Total Cases According to the Florida Department of Health's Latest Data April 10:

  • Heron Heights Elementary: 18 cases
  • Marjory Stoneman Douglas: 64 cases 
  • Mary Help of Christians School: 11 cases 
  • Park Trails Elementary: 46 cases 
  • Riverglades Elementary: 38 cases 
  • Somerset Parkland Academy: 19 cases 
  • Westglades Middle School: 31 cases
