PARKLAND, FL- Florida added 14,000 cases and 167 deaths on Wednesday. New cases in Parkland rose just 10. Parkland schools have a combined 74 cases.

Total people vaccinated to date are 707,478 in Florida and 62,173 in Broward County. Per Governor DeSantis' Executive Order, the vaccine can only be given to long-term care facility residents and staff, persons 65 years of age and older, health care personnel with direct patient contact, and persons deemed to be extremely vulnerable to COVID-19 by hospital providers.

The percent of positive results ranged from 10.17% to 12.95% over the past 2 weeks and was 10.17% on Tuesday, January 12, 2021. The percentage calculated is for people that test positive for the first time and does not include people that had previously tested positive.

Parkland Schools have a total of 59 cases through the latest data on January 2, 2021.

Here are the current COVID-19 numbers according to the Florida Department of Health as of Wednesday, January 13, 2021:

Florida: 1,517,472 total confirmed cases, an increase of 13,990 since yesterday. 

Broward County: 153,715 total confirmed cases, an increase of 1,070 since yesterday. 

Parkland: 1,641 total confirmed cases, an increase of 10 since yesterday. 

Coral Springs: 8,345 total confirmed cases, an increase of 69 since yesterday. 

Deaths in Florida related to COVID-19: 23,396 an increase of 167 since yesterday.  

Broward County: 7,767 (5.1%) total hospitalizations with 1,943 (1.3%) deaths due to COVID-19. Deaths increased by 5 since yesterday.  The median age is 39.

Broward County Percent Positive: 9.2% per the latest data on January 12, 2021.

Broward County Hospital Bed Availability: Hospitals have 862 (15.6%) beds available and 67 (13.6%) adult ICU beds available per the latest data on January 13, 2021.

Parkland Schools Total Cases According to the Latest Data Through January 2:

  • Heron Heights Elementary: 5 cases
  • Marjory Stoneman Douglas: 19 cases 
  • Park Trails Elementary: 17 cases
  • Riverglades Elementary: 12 cases
  • Somerset Parkland Academy: 11 cases
  • Westglades Middle School: 10 cases
