WEST CALDWELL, NJ - On Wednesday morning, West Caldwell Police Officers Cpl. John Kappock and Ptl. Patrick Cooper arrested a 15-year old juvenile male from Wayne and charged him with burglary to a motor vehicle.
According to West Caldwell Chief of Police Michael J. Bramhall, at about 7 a.m., police received a call from a Sanderson Avenue resident who stated that a young white male was vigorously searching through the glove compartment of the caller's car which was parked in the driveway.
Kappock was the first to arrive on the scene and observed a male matching the caller's description and began to chase him through properties on Forest Avenue. Kappock was then joined by Cooper who continued to track the male to Hillside Avenue. The suspect was finally subdued in the rear of the yard at 122 Forest Avenue where the officers placed him under arrest. A later canvass of the area showed that no other cars were broken into.
