West Essex Graphic Design Students David Wong and Celina Marzullo’s Works Selected for this Weekend’s Sweeney Todd

March 19, 2013 at 1:58 AM

North Caldwell, NJ - This weekend, the West Essex High School Masquers, under the direction of the school’s Choral Director Christa Sorrentino, will present “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street." West Essex Fine, Performing and Practical Arts teacher Marjorie Jameson said that she asked her students to create possible designs for the poster and T-shirt for the show; Sorrentino then selected the winners.

After several weeks of hard work in their graphic design class, students David Wong and Celina Marzullo, both residents of Fairfield, were told that their work was selected to be used for the Masquers’ production.

Last fall, John Zapparratta, a junior from Fairfield, had his design selected for the West Essex Masquers’ Fall production of “Our Town.”

According to their website, Masquers of West Essex is an after-school theatrical productions club. Students are exposed to the hands-on creation of a theatrical production from inception to closing night. Students can be involved both onstage and backstage as part of the cast and the many crews including stage, set, technical, costume, hair and makeup. Casting for productions is based on a non-biased, open audition in front of a panel of faculty.  All students are welcome to audition and participate on crew.

Man vs. Waze

A lot of strange cars are traveling through my quiet neighborhood these days.  They are not driven by my neighbors.  Some mornings I even have trouble getting out of my driveway.

Ever since bridge repair closed a major thoroughfare near my house, the traffic on my sleepy street has increased dramatically.  And it is not by accident that commuters have figured out ...
