West Orange African Heritage Organization Announces Scholarship Recipients

WEST ORANGE, NJ - On June 8, 2014, the West Orange African Heritage Organization awarded four scholarships, totaling $6,000 to West Orange High School seniors selected by the Scholarship Committee for their achievements in the areas of academics, community involvement, leadership and communication.

This year, in memory of Thomas W. Holcomb Sr., Scholarships were awarded to the following students:

Frances Amaefuna – Rutgers University (Political Science)

Frank Amaefuna – University of Connecticut (Biology)

Jahir Blanton – University of New Haven (Criminal Justice)

Jade Jenkins – Penn State (Business)

Founded in 1999, the West Orange African Heritage Organization is a non-profit volunteer organization that promotes the cultural distinction of West Orange residents of African descent. The Organization solicits funds for this effort from donations and annual events such as “Men Who Cook”.
