West Orange Arts Council Presents Amelia Panico Exhbit at Library

WEST ORANGE, NJ - The West Orange Arts Council continues to showcase local artists with  their latest exhibition at West Orange Public Library, 46 Mt. Pleasant Avenue, West Orange, on Saturday, Feb. 15, at 2:00 pm. The exhibition, entitled "People in the Arts," is a collection of forty black and white silver gelatin photographs of celebrities in the 1990s taken by professional photographer and West Orange resident Amelia Panico.

Panico was working as a freelance photographer during the 1990s for celebrity publicists at events including the American Music Awards, Grammy after-parties, and Night of 100 Trees.  She was retained by Patti LaBelle and Christopher Reeve to take backstage and public appearance photos. Her collection is an insightful look into the world of celebrity, featuring actors and musicians like Anthony Quinn, Patti Labelle, Robert DeNiro and Candice Bergen.

As a graduate of Pratt Institute with a BFA in photography, Panico has worked as a professional photographer for 30 years and has been a West Orange resident for the past six. She will be teaching photography classes at the Oskar Schindler Performing Arts Center (OSPAC) in the spring of 2014.
