WEST ORANGE, NJ — The West Orange Chamber of Commerce has appointed Georgia Varidakis Simoes as its new executive director.
"We welcome Georgia to the role of Executive Director. A local resident, she has extensive experience working with the business community and is passionate about helping Chamber members grow their businesses," said Sally Malech, president of the West Orange Chamber of Commerce.
Simoes is a business consultant and a self-taught jewelry artist. She focuses on raw stones and celestial imagery in her designs. She infuses a timeless and elegant feel, creating modern day heirlooms that are both dark and romantic. Simoes has travelled throughout the United States displaying her work in various art shows and has had her work featured in numerous publications, including VOGUE and The New York Times.
Simoes has more than 10 years of experience developing events and retail venues that focus on helping small businesses grow and building local connections. She has also spoken at events on the importance of expanding businesses into numerous sales channels for optimal leads.
Simoes comes to West Orange from New York, having lived in Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island before calling West Orange home. She graduated from CUNY Queens College with a focus on Media Studies and continues to take various metalsmithing classes.
