WEST ORANGE, NJ - The West Orange Council of PTAs provides information on PTA activities in the West Orange school district.  Here's a round-up of information from their latest release:

Week of April 7

Now in its ninth year, The WO-Zone is an all volunteer email publication of the West Orange Council of Parent -Teacher Association and includes PTA events and activities that are open to all West Orange residents.

On April 24 and April 25 of this year, Roosevelt will spring into talent history by sponsoring a two day Talent Showcase and Competition that will explode with musical and talent variety for all. This two night talent showcase begins at 7:30 p.m. The ticket costs are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. A ticket purchase is valid for both evenings, pending it is not pre-torn. Tickets can be purchased from participating students at Roosevelt or contact the production directors at RMS. 


Looking for a great way to honor your mother or other special women for Mother's Day this year? Look no further, as Edison Middle School is happy to announce the creation of a Mother's Day EMS Garden Tribute to benefit the Edison Green Gardens at our school.  Please join us by honoring your mother, grandmother, aunt, or other female this Mother's Day with a special donation on their behalf to Edison Green Gardens.  The West Orange Council of Parent -Teacher Association have open positions available on our 2014-2016 Executive Board. For the upcoming year only, the President, the Corresponding Secretary, and the President Elect will serve for one year with the President Elect taking the office of President in 2015. This is to provide continuity in officer positions. If you are interested or would like to nominate someone, please fill out the attached form and return it to us by April 8, 2014.  Help build a Centennial Plaza to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Gregory School!  Purchase a commemorative brick, with personalized engraving, which will become part of The Gregory Centennial Plaza in the front of the school. News from the Health and Wellness Committee of the West Orange Board of Education

 The deadline for the poster contest has been extended to April 21, 2014.  All K-8th grade students in the West Orange school district can enter the Heath and Wellness Poster Contest for a chance to win big and have their poster represent the Health & Wellness Committee.  A $250 gift card will be awarded to the 1st place winner and other special recognitions will be awarded to the 2nd and 3rd place winners. The West Orange High School Mountaineer Home Run Club will hold its Annual Beefsteak Dinner onFriday, April 25th at the Toby Katz Center, 650 Pleasant Valley Way.  Doors open at 6:30 pm and the cost is $40 per person.  Beer, wine and soda included. Join us at Liberty Middle School, Saturday, May 3rd (rain or shine) for the first Liberty Middle School 2 Mile Fun Run Fitness. The Run / Walk is to help celebrate National Physical Fitness and Sports Month. Registration begins at 7:30 am, and the Run / Walk starts promptly at 9:00 am. The cost is $12.00 for students, $15.00 for runners and $20.00 on race day. There will be prizes awarded for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. This Move for Health initiative will help support the Liberty Middle School Health and Wellness Committee and the Liberty Middle School Scholarship Fund.
