WEST ORANGE, NJ - 36 students from West Orange (NJ) High School conducted oral histories on the lives of 14 residents at Daughters of Israel. Spearheaded by the Jewish Historical Society (JHS) of NJ, the year-long project was part of the students’ ninth grade World History Honors class taught by Professor Doug Drabik.

In commemoration of “Older Americans Month” and “Jewish American Heritage Month,” a final culminating event took place at Daughters of Israel on Friday, May 16, in which the oral histories were presented to the residents, their families, and members of the community.
