WEST ORANGE, NJ - It was touch and go for the Independence Day Weekend as Hurricane Arthur dampened celebrations along the East Coast, but skies over West Orange cleared in time for the annual fireworks display to go off without a hitch.
Hundreds turned out to enjoy the yearly spectacular put on by the Rec Department. The moon walk and Boland Fun Meet were canceled due to soggy conditions, but the turf field at West Orange High School provided a dry enough surface to view the fireworks. Food was available for sale and a DJ entertained the crowds until dusk fell and the show began. All in all, the crowd was pleased with the show as they watched from points all over the area.
