WEST ORANGE, NJ - The West Orange High School Lacrosse team was handed a tough loss by Newark Academy on Saturday April, 12. Despite coming back from a win decisive win at their last game, Mountaineers were defeated, 12-4.
West Orange’s record is now 3-4, and they needed a win against Newark Academy as they head into games v. Columbia and Livingston later this week. They previously defeated North Brunswick, Newark East Side, and Morris Catholic. They have fallen to Morris Beard, Roxbury, Morris Hills, and Newark Academy.
Alex Elliot scored two of West Orange’s four goals. The first was assisted by Chris Hanley, and the second was unassisted. Nick Santa Cruz and Andrew DiPalma also scored an unassisted goal.
Cillian Connor and Tommy Damiano of Newark Academy each scored a hat trick. Connor also earned an assist. Sam Rollenhagen and Zack Lathrop scored two goals each. Rollenhagen also assisted two goals. Riley Kolek scored one goal and five assists. Newark Academy's record is now 4-3.
Varsity LAX middie Andrew Cumming said "The game should have been closer. We need to play a full game and stay focused mentally."
The Mountaineers will play the Columbia Cougars at 4:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 17 at Columbia High School, 17 Parker Avenue, Maplewood.
