WEST ORANGE, NJ - On Saturday, Oct. 19 at West Orange's Mountain Top League will hold a fundraiser featuring a friendly competition game between the West Orange Fire Department and the West Orange All Stars. The event will be held at 6 p.m. at the Codey Arena at the South Mountain Recreation Complex on Northfield Avenue.
Mayor Parisi, West Orange High School ice hockey coach Eddie Scafidi, Sal Anderton, Pete Scalora and many more well- known West Orange community members will skae to help raise money to offset Mountain Top League Ice Hockey costs for the kids.
The admission cost for the event is $10 per person, and children under 12 are free. Refreshments will be available at a reduced cost. The MTL Boosters will be selling hats, sweatshirts and tees. There will also be a "Chuck-a-Puck" fund raiser.
In an interview with the Alternative Press, MTL President Brad Palent was enthusiastic about the Ice Hockey program and the interest of the community. "All proceeds are going to Mountain Top League with the hopes of helping to underwrite/offset fees. We are hoping to have spring ice hockey teams formed for a league at Floyd hall in Montclair for the youth that have been participating in our programs, as well as other children from town who may already be playing hockey. We want the kids to play ice hockey together, and see that continue through high school."
Palent continued, "kids playing hockey in our program will skate between periods for the fans. It will be a great time of rallying our community together for the rejuvenation of West Orange ice hockey."
