West Orange Music Faculty Concert to be Held Feb. 25

WEST ORANGE, NJ - The 13th annual Music Faculty Scholarship Concert will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 25 in the Liberty Middle School Auditorium, 1 Kelly Drive, beginning at 7 p.m.

In a who's who of the talented Arts staff in the West Orange Public School District, the annual concert accepts donations to be put towards scholarships for graduating seniors at West Orange High School pursuing the Arts in college. Other local musicians and college students who attended WOHS will make special appearances as well.

Gabe Batiz , Kevin Munroe, Chris Bleeke, Dan O’Dea, Roger Bryson, Joel Perry, Pat Cuttita, Bonnie Pomeroy    Ken Darcy, Louis Quagliato, Tim Egan,Dave Rimelis, Jay Gitter, Joe Romano, John Hellyer, Matt Schmidt , Lewis Kelly, Craig Stanton, Matt King, Lisa Swanick, Ryan Krewer, Scott Tomlin, Eric Mains, Andrew Zhang, and Betsy Maliszewski will entertain the audience with renditions of classical and contemporary music.

Songs from Broadway musicals like Fiddler on the Roof, Into the Woods, and Phantom of the Opera will be performed. The WOBOE String Quartet, WOBOE Jazz Ensemble, and Faculty/Alumni Band will send the audience out with rousing renditions of Big Band sounds.

West Orange has long been known as a school district that honors and supports the Arts, and the Award-Winning WOHS Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, and more, are the result of the teachers that have worked with West Orange music students from fourth grade on. The West Orange Music Faculty Concert showcases those teachers and their talents, and it's a whole lot of fun to see and hear.

Andy’s Family Music Showcases Alex Weiss on Drums

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Andy’s Family Music Center of Livingston is proud to highlight 11-year-old Alex Weiss, a fifth grader at Collins Elementary School with an aptitude for drums.

Alex studies drums at Andy’s under the instruction of Joe Vitello. He says hid favorite band is Fall Out Boy and that his dad is his number one musical influence.
