West Orange Public School District Announces Kindergarten Registration

WEST ORANGE, NJ - Beginning February 3, 2014, the Registration Office at the West Orange Board of Education, located at 179 Eagle Rock Avenue, will begin accepting phone calls to schedule Kindergarten Registration appointments for the 2014-2015 school year.

Resident children born on or before October 1, 2009 are eligible to be registered. A child must be 5 years old by October 1, 2014 and must be properly immunized.

West Orange residents can call the Registration Office beginning on Feb. 3 at 973-669-5400, x 20505 to schedule an appointment date and time. This line automatically goes to voicemail.  Leave a clear message with your name and telephone number, and an idea of when you want to schedule your appointment. The messages are checked regularly throughout the day and calls returned.

Registration forms can also be picked up at the front desk at the Central Office of the West Orange Board of Education at 179 Eagle Rock Avenue. Residents can make an appointment when they stop in to pick up the Registration forms as well.

Online registration can be completed on the website by clicking on the New Student Forms ( link at the on the left side of the home page. The Registration Office encourages all parents that can complete the online forms do so because it will shorten your appointment time at least a half-hour.

Both the online and hard copy registration forms will include a list of documents required to process and approve the registration.  When families come in for their appointment, they should bring their completed registration forms and all required documentation.  If you do not bring all the required documentation, registration cannot be completed and another appointment will have to be made.

The first available appointments will begin on March 3, 2014. Children do not need to be present to be registered.  The office becomes noisy and crowded during registration period, so bring them only if it is necessary.

Kindergarten classes in the West Orange Public School district fill up quickly. Residents are encouraged to schedule registration appointments as soon as possible. All Kindergarten spaces are filled in the order of first completed registration. 

Kindergarten Orientation will take place in the elementary schools on June 2, 2014 and June 3, 2014. Only families that have completed the registration process will be able to attend Orientation in their elementary school.
