WEST ORANGE,NJ - Rabbi Ellie Miller from West Orange, of Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel in South Orange, unrolls a mini-Torah with kindergarten students to prepare for Simchat Torah, which will be celebrated on Monday, October 8th at 6 pm. The celebration marks the 30th anniversary of the merger between Temple Israel and Temple Sharey Tefilo. The evening is open to the community, and culminates with candy apples for all.
Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel, located at 432 Scotland Road in South Orange is a Reform congregation that welcomes all who wish to participate in and celebrate Jewish traditions and rituals. It is recognized for its education, programs, worship services, community events, and groups dedicated to a wide array of religious, social, and educational interests. The temple draws members from many towns including South Orange, Maplewood, Short Hills, Millburn, Livingston and West Orange.
