West Orange Resident Lamar Powell Named Performer of the Week by Liberty League

WEST ORANGE, NJ -  Hometown resident and West Orange High School graduate Lamar Powell is having a very good year.  Powell is a senior at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson in New York and is a Guard on the Raptors Basketball team.  On November 18, Powell was named Men's Basketball Performer of the Week by the Liberty League. 

Powell averaged 21.5 points and had four assists and three rebounds in two games. During the Connecticut College matchup on November 16, Powell had 18 points and five assists as the Raptors' won, 62-59. On November 17, the Raptors took on Suffolk and Powell shot 10-for-15 from the field and finished with 25 points, two rebounds and three assists, giving Bard a 85-75 victory. Powell was also named  Most Outstanding Player at the Coaches vs. Cancer Tip-Off Tournament at Connecticut College.

On November 19, Powell had a career high, scoring 29 points in the Raptor's game v. Drew, though Drew won the game, 86-76.

Powell had a strong varsity career at West Orange High School, and graduated in 2010.

 As a freshman, Powell played in all 25 games, averaging 3.8 points and 2.4 rebounds per game; as a sophomore, he played in all 25 games, started 13, and averaged 4.8 points and three rebounds per game; and as a junior, he started all 25 games, averaging 10.8 points and 2.4 rebounds per game.

Former NY Giant Steve Weatherford and The Shauger Group Provide Thanksgiving Meals to Families in Need

EAST ORANGE, NJ - The Shauger Group, Inc. (TSG) has once again partnered with former New York Giants punter Steve Weatherford to spread holiday cheer and help families in need around Thanksgiving.

On Tuesday, Nov. 22 Weatherford and Donald Shauger, vice president of TSG, handed out turkeys to underprivileged families in Newark in an effort organized by the Believe in Newark Foundation.

ELIZABETH, NJ – When 28-year-old, Elizabeth resident Mike Georgevich was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor, his sister Nicole didn’t hesitate to spring into action.
