West Orange Schools Hold Festivals, Carnivals and Raffles

June 1, 2014 at 4:04 PM

WEST ORANGE, NJ - West Orange was a happening place yesterday as school carnivals, festivals, and more took place all over town. Of course, Northfield Avenue was pandemonium as visitors thronged to Turtle Back Zoo and its Essex County Open House, which included free admission.

Redwood, Gregory and Hazel Elementary schools held some pretty big events of their own, and the school PTAs deserve a big shout-out for all their efforts to raise money for their schools.

Thanks to our friends at Redwood, Gregory, and Hazel, we're pleased to present a photo round-up of some of the action.

Redwood Basket Raffle/Carnival

The event began with the PTA's Basket Raffle on May 30 and culminated in the Redwood Carnival on Saturday. Hundreds of Redwood family and friends attended the popular event, which boasted a dunk tank, and other fun activities.

Gregory Strawberry Festival

As Gregory continues its 100th birthday celebration, the annual Strawberry Festival took on special meaning yesterday as hundreds came out to help support the pavilion project and celebrate Gregory history. A lot of well-known residents took dips in the dunk tank there as well.

Hazel Tricky Tray

Liberty Middle School once again hosted the Hazel Tricky Tray, which featured tons of baskets and prizes. The cafeteria was filled with happy prizewinners and families, and profits will be reinvested back into needed items at Hazel school.
