WEST ORANGE, NJ - September is Hunger Awareness month and the West Orange Shoprite is hitting the ground dancing in an effort to raise money for Essex County food pantries. On Sept. 6, the store, located at 1 Rooney Circle, will hold Family Zumba day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vendors will be on site, and there will be raffle baskets and more than100 door prizes.
Partners In Caring is a year-round, community-based, hunger-fighting initiative that works with more than 50 food industry manufacturers to provide $2 million annually to more than 1,700 qualified charitable agencies in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Maryland. The Holy Trinity-West Orange Food Pantry was recently approved for a $1,000 Partners In Caring yearly grant and has been happy to participate with LaChell Miller, the store's dietician, in several initiatives over the past year that raise awareness for hunger and healthy eating.
The event is open to all over the age of 10. The donation cost to participate is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 10-17 and can be paid at the door. Doors open at 10:45 am. Wear comfortable workout wear and come prepared to have fun for an important cause.
