West Orange Teams Take First, Second and Third is Essex County Conference Track and Field Championships

WEST ORANGE, NJ - The West Orange community knows something that many other towns don't, and that is that West Orange High School and Seton Hall Prep have some formidable indoor winter track teams. All three teams shot out of the gate this weekend at the fifth Super Essex Conference Championships at the Jersey City Armory on Dec. 28, with Seton Hall Prep taking  home the SEC American title and the West Orange High boys taking second place. The WOHS girls finished third in the girls' American division behind Columbia and Mt. St. Dominic.

Individual winners were Seton Hall's Brandon Moorer, who won the 55-meter dash (6.80), Christian Orsini, who won the 400-meter run (52.27), Hogan Dwyer who won the 1,600-meter run (4:40.76), and Christin Patrick won the 55-meter hurdles (7.88). The relay team of Orsini, Moorer, Michael Aman and Royce Watkins took first in the 4-x-400-meter.(3:37.90).

WOHS Boys team members Barden Adams placed first in the high jump with 6 feet, 2 inches; Caleb Edgehill won the 800-meter run (2:02.23) and Siem Mehretu won the 3,200-meter run (10:15.85).

For the WOHS Girls, Aliya Barnes took first in the 55-meter hurdles in 8.60.

Police Investigate Shooting Homicide in Orange

ORANGE, NJ - Local authorities are currently investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in Orange late Wednesday night, according to Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray and Orange Police Director Todd Warren. The victim was identified as Jonas Larose, 55, of East Orange.
