West Orange Winter Track Athletes Excel at the Varsity Classic in New York City

WEST ORANGE, NJ - West Orange High School continued its streak of successful competitions at the Varsity Classic held at the Armory in New York City on Feb. 4.

The following is a list of West Orange athletes that placed, including their times.

Aliya Barnes- 55 Meter hurdles 2nd place,     8.54

Siem Mehretu-1600 meters 7th place,           4:26.6 (PR) **

Jahir Blanton-200 meters,13th place,            23.74 (PR)

Caleb Edgehill-800 meters, 7th place,           1:59.6 (PR) **

Barden Adams- triple jump, 2nd place            45.05 (PR) **                         

 Barden Adams-high jump, 2nd place              6'.6

Siem Mehretu, Jahir Blanton, Caleb Edgehill, and Barden Adams all had personal record bests in the competitions, with Mehretu, Edgehill and Adams achieving national elite status. 

The team heads to Toms River on Feb. 9 for the Sectional Meet, followed by the Groups Feb. 14 and the Meet of Champions on Feb. 25.
