WEST ORANGE, NJ - The West Orange Zoning Board last night gave approval for CVS to build on the current site of Pal's Cabin. The approval covers plans for a 24 hour CVS with a one window drive through. CVS' Attorney, Robert Williams, amended the plans from a two window drive through to a one window.
The approval came after an article appeared in yesterday's Star Ledger and on NJ.com indicating that PAL's Cabin, opened in 1932 at 265 Prospect Avenue in West Orange, was closing. The owners, the Horn brothers, shared fond memories of Pal's and noted that they were considering their options as to what they would do next. A burger type eatery is under consideration.
Yesterday afternoon, prior to the Zoning Board meeting that would decide the fate of CVS' Application to Establish a Store at Pal's Cabin, the Pal's Cabin Facebook Page posted the following:
Loyal Friends and Patrons,
In response to the article in the Star Ledger today, there is no scheduled closing date at this time. Pals is open everyday and will be for the foreseeable future. We sincerely appreciate all your kind words and can assure you we have exciting plans for the Pals Cabin brand. Check back for future announcements as we will do our best to keep you informed on this page.
The Horn Family
The Horn Family has denied publicly until yesterday that they were closing Pal's Cabin, saying that they were 'considering their options' but remained open for business.
CVS has 2 years and 1 day to build, unless the ordinances change or they file for an extension.
