WESTFIELD, NJ — The Westfield Area Y celebrated its 90th anniversary with a free fair for the entire community on Sept. 15.  Families enjoyed inflatable obstacle courses, a bounce house, a DJ playing music from the 1930s through today, an indoor climbing wall, sand art necklaces, a balloon artist, face painting, Westfield Area Y and Y-USA History Trivia, Healthy U kids games, an interactive nutrition activity, soft-play fun for smaller children and an opportunity to paint their own visions of the Y on the Y’s large canvas.

There were prizes and giveaways, as well as free refreshments for everyone, including hot dogs, fruit, popcorn and water and ices. Italian ices were donated by Uncle Louie G Italian Ices and Ice Cream of Westfield.

The Westfield Food Pantry was on-site collecting healthy food donations and flu shots were provided by CVS Pharmacy, as well.

The Y will continue its celebration with a free family movie night in partnership with Spencer Savings Bank on Friday, Sept. 20 at dusk at Elm Street Field, across from Stop & Shop. Rain date is Sept. 21. Bring a picnic blanket and enjoy Dr. Seuss’ “The Lorax.” A free gift will be given to the first 500 families to arrive.
