WESTFIELD, NJ — The Greater Westfield Area Chamber of Commerce is looking for its next class of young businessmen and women for the Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!), a 30-week afterschool program for middle school and high school students who live in Westfield, Scotch Plains, Fanwood, Clark, Garwood and Mountainside.
Students in grades six through 12 who demonstrate creativity, academic effort, determination and commitment to their communities will have the opportunity during the 2014-2015 school year to learn all about starting a business, pitch ideas to potential investors for funding and launch their own companies.
“We are looking for eager students who are excited to start their own business,” said Mitch Beinhaker, who leads the program. “They do not have to come in with any ideas, as we go through many exercises in class to help them develop one.”
