WESTFIELD, NJ — When Westfield Boy’s Varsity Baseball beat Roselle Park 4-2 May 2 to advance in the Union County tournament, the team was led by senior pitched Michael Androconis, who pitched a complete game with only one earned run and recording seven strikeouts.
“I was feeling good through the game,” said Androconis. “We were able to get runs early in the game. This really helped me out because once I knew that I was able to be more aggressive and just throw strikes.”
Androconis said he hopes that win will lead them to their ultimate goal of winning states.
“Our goals since the beginning of the season has been to win counties, then sectionals and then states. We are in the finals for the counties on Saturday, so we have almost reached our first goal, and we are the first seed for section for the state tournament. So we are doing pretty good,” he said.
