WESTFIELD, NJ - Board of Education Vice President Rosanne Kurstedt announced Tuesday during the board's meeting that she will not run for re-election in November.
“It is with great disappointment to announce that I will not be running for re-election,” said Kurstedt.
Kurstedt said her choice not to run is a result of family obligations that she did not have three years earlier when she initially ran.
“I look forward to the next seven months, because there are still seven months left,” she said.
She said that her time with the board was a good experience and she encouraged anyone considering to run to contact her.
“Please feel free to contact me if anyone is interested in running,” said Kurstedt.
Kurstedt is the second board of ed member to announce she will not run for re-election. Earlier this month, Ann Cary announced that she won't run again.
The deadline to file a petition to run in the next Board of Education election is July 28.
