Westfield Boys Lacrosse Downed by Mountain Lakes in Tournament of Champions


BRIDGEWATER-RARITAN, NJ – One of the most successful seasons in Westfield boys’ lacrosse history has come to an abrupt end.

Fresh off their first North Jersey, Group 4 championship and playing in their first Tournament of Champions, the Blue Devils were bounced from post-season tournament, 13-6, by Mountain Lakes on Saturday.

After playing the first quarter to a 1-1 tie, Westfield was outscored 10-2 over the next two frames, ultimately ending their season.

Chris Aslanian and Luke Prybylski were held to just two goals a piece, while Mountain Lakes attacker Christian Cuccinello paced the game with six goals.

Westfield goalies Toby Burgdorf and Alex D’Amato combined to make six saves on 19 shots.

The Blue Devils finish their state championship season with a 12-10 record.
