WESTFIELD, NJ — Westfield police arrested two men as they were getting away from a home on the 600 block of Glenn Ave. Thursday with the homeowners’ property in hand, Police Chief David Wayman announced today. Jose Quispilaye, 36, of Union City and Antonio Aguilar-Oliva, 35, of Clifton were arrested for burglary, possession of burglary tools, criminal mischief and theft.

The arrest took place at about 10:55 a.m. after a neighbor called 9-1-1 to report that they could see two males climbing in the back window of the house. Both men were remanded to Union County Jail on $35,000 bail.

Wayman applauded the alertness and actions of the neighbor by calling 9-1-1 to report what they'd seen.

“Without the neighbor’s keen observations and them quickly calling 9-1-1, these perpetrators may have gotten away,” he said. “This is a great example of what can be accomplished with the community and police working together.”
