WESTFIELD, NJ — About 300 people came to Mindowaskin Park Saturday afternoon for the Westfield Lions Club’s 79th annual Easter egg hunt. Children ages seven and under raced to find more than 1,200 plastic eggs. Volunteers gave out hundreds of bags jelly beans and families had a chance to take photos with the Easter Bunny, all for free.
“Hopefully, it will be a good experience,” said Lois Schembs, Westfield Lions Club membership chair, before the hunt began.
Egg-hunting areas were divided by age group. Here, children ages six and seven race to gather eggs:
“It’s amazing to me how many children can come to a hunt and in a minute all the eggs are collected,” laughed Schembs.
