Westfield Girl Lacrosse Soars Past New Providence in UCT Quarters

WESTFIELD, NJ – The Blue Devils girls’ lacrosse team scored 11 times in the first half on Saturday, en route to a 17-5 victory over New Providence in the quarterfinal round of the Union County Tournament.

Westfield senior Anna Tanji found the back of the net six times to lead all scorers in the game. Sam Paoletti and Alexis Kardias added three goals a piece in the victory.

The 17 goals is a season-high for the Blue Devils, having scored 16 marks on five different occasions this year.

Mallory Weisse picked up the win for the Blue Devils, she made 12 saves in the game.

Jill Balog and Dominique Iacovelli each provided two goals for the Pioneers.

Westfield will face Oak Knoll on Tuesday in the UCT semifinal. Face-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Arthur L. Johnson High School in Clark.
