Westfield High School Christmas Tree Pickup Fundraiser a Success

WHS Music Students Hard at Work picking up Christmas trees and disposing at the Westfield Conservation Center.  L to R: Julian Mone, Cathy Bruno, Kim Roth, Victoria Guerriero, Jack Venezia

The Westfield High School Choir and Band would like to thank the community for its support and participation in their Christmas tree pick up fundraiser.  After being postponed from January 5 to January 11 due to snow, this event was a huge success: over 370 trees were picked up from Westfield residents, who registered and gave $15 per tree for the service.

Music students and parent volunteers came to work in more than 20 vehicles, all under the leadership of Cathy Bruno and Fraser Weist, Choir President and Vice President, and David Gruskin and Philip Chapel, Band President and Vice President. Proceeds from this event will go towards scholarships and future choir and band trips.

A special thank you goes out to the Westfield Conservation Center and the Department of Public Works for the accommodation, the Villane family, the DiFabio family, and M&R Landscape & Design for the loan and operation of dump truck.

The Choir and Band would like to invite the community to their spring concerts at the Westfield High School – Choir at 7:30 p.m in the auditorium on May 20; Band at 7:30 p.m in the auditorium on April 10 (Jazz/Percussion Concert), 6 p.m in cafeteria B on May 2 (Jazz Night), and 7:30pm in the auditorium on June 2 (Concert Bands).
