Westfield High School Receives 8 Theater Award Nominations

Westfield High School’s Drama department received eight Montclair State University “Theatre Night Awards” nominations for Metamorphoses, the drama performed in the fall and pictured here in a scene transforming the auditorium into a mythical setting.  The nominations include Outstanding Overall Production, Outstanding Production of a Drama, Outstanding Achievement in Sound Design, Outstanding Achievement in Stage Crew, Outstanding Achievement in Costume Design, Outstanding Achievement by an Acting Ensemble, Outstanding Performance by a Supporting Actress in a Drama for 10th grader Jesse Zimmermann, and Outstanding Achievement in Stage Direction for Drama teacher Daniel Devlin.

According to the University, the nominees and recipients of the Theatre Night Awards are selected through a rigorous, multi-stage adjudication process following viewing of more than 50 school plays statewide.  Westfield High School’s Metamorphoses is one of only 6 plays nominated for Outstanding Production of a High School Play.  Montclair State University will announce the winners at the Theatre Night Awards on May 12 in Memorial Auditorium on the MSU campus.
