WESTFIELD, NJ -- On Thursday, Sept. 12, the Westfield varsity football team played the Elizabeth High School Minutemen in their first game of the season. The game took place at Kehler Stadium in Westfield.

The first points of the game were gained with a touchdown by the Blue Devils, scored with only two minutes left in the first quarter.

By the end of first quarter, the Blue Devils were in the lead with a score of 7-0.

Westfield scored another touchdown with seven minutes to go in the second quarter. Elizabeth finally scored its first points of the game before halftime, cutting the deficit to 14-7.

Westfield and Elizabeth remained tied for almost all of the third quarter and part of fourth with a score of 14-14 until the Blue Devils pushed ahead and scored a final touchdown, ending the game with a score of 21-14. Westfield hopes to win their next game as well, which will take place in Kehler Stadium Saturday, Sept. 21, against Hillsborough High School.
