WESTFIELD, NJ - The Westfield High School Volleyball team and Breast Cancer Awareness club raised a total of $28,000 with their fifth annual Pink Out tournament, held Oct. 11, according to the Westfield Board of Education. All proceeds from the event benefited the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

The team recently received a letter of thanks from the foundation that read, in part,  “All of us here at Komen are humbled and touched by the hard work, the dedication, the attention to details and the true passion that goes into the Pink Out event! $28,000. Amazing. Simply amazing. With the average cost of a mammogram being $125, this year that means that 264 women who could not afford a mammogram will be able to afford one. Many of these women would not, could not get a mammogram without our help ...YOU ARE SAVING LIVES!”
