WESTFIELD, NJ — To celebrate New Jersey’s 350th anniversary this year, the Westfield Historical Society is sponsoring a photo contest open to all Westfield residents with five categories: Nature, People, Events, Buildings & Monuments and NJ Miscellaneous.

All photos must be taken in New Jersey during 2014 and received by the Westfield Historical Society (WHS) in print form by Sept. 3. Entry fee is $5 per entry for adults; children under 18 enter for free. Photos will be displayed at the Reeve History and Cultural Resource Center during the society’s annual Apple Fest in October, when the public will vote for their favorite entries. Prizes will be awarded to the winners.

“We would like adults and children alike to take their best photos over the summer and submit them as part of the contest,” said Robert Wendel, vice president of community relations for the WHS. “We will also post the winners on our website to highlight their works showing the vibrant life of Westfield and New Jersey as part of our celebration of New Jersey's 350th anniversary. Given the historic nature of New Jersey, being one of the centers of our country's founding, we hope to highlight those items found in the five categories of our photo contest. These five categories are broad enough to help people celebrate our past, present and future.”
