WESTFIELD, NJ – Westfield Memorial Library began offering streaming video Thursday to library patrons—an upgrade to its downloading service. The free streaming works anytime from anywhere and even works on smart phones and tablets.
Users with a valid library card can “borrow” up to five titles at a time by going online to www.wmlnj.org .Video lending automatically expires at the end of a given period, which is usually seven days, meaning no late fees.
“Our streaming video service is secure and will extend the reach of the library’s digital collection, thanks to virtually unlimited device compatibility,” said Library Director Phil Israel. “We are very excited to be able to offer our patrons an even faster way of downloading movies from the library’s ever-expanding online collection of videos that includes a growing catalog of digital feature films, documentaries, educational and children’s favorites with a modern, easy-to-use viewing experience. They’ll be able to watch movies from the library whenever and wherever they want.”
New movies were recently added to the library’s online collection, including recent titles such as Silver Linings Playbook, Django Unchained, My Week with Marilyn, The Iron Lady, Lawless, Seal Team Six and Scary Movie 5.
To stream video to smart phones or tablets, visit the library’s website at www.wmlnj.org, click on the “digital access” link and choose “download movies.”
