On Wednesday, June 11 at 7:00 p.m., the Westfield Memorial Library will present a Tribute to Les Paul and Mary Ford. The library is located at 550 East Broad Street.
The tribute is performed by Tom Doyle and Sandy Cory on guitars, percussion, flute and vocals. In addition to playing Les and Mary’s great hits, Tom gives a captivating, yet entertaining talk about the father of electric guitar and pioneer of sound on sound recording and over dubbing.
He worked with Les Paul for over 40 years as his sound performance engineer/guitarist in NYC and was a close confidant. Tom had great compassion for Les Paul and was an integral part and true friend to those in the Les Paul world. Tom and Mary are connected with the Les Paul Foundation and Mahwah Museum of NJ. They were also the opening act at the Iridium Jazz Club in New York City on Broadway after Les's passing.
The program is free and open to Westfield Memorial Library and MURAL cardholders. (MURAL cardholders belong to libraries that are part of the Middlesex Union Reciprocal Agreement Libraries. Check our website to see if your library participates.) To register for the program, visit the library’s website at www.wmlnj.org, click on the Online Calendar, or call 908.789.4090 ext 0.
