SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ - Although Westfield came into the game as a heavy favorite, the Scotch Plains-Fanwood girls basketball team gave the Blue Devils all they could handle for three quarters on Saturday.
Westfield ultimately pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 55-44 victory that extended its record to 16-2.
Scotch Plains-Fanwood was within three, 32-29, after three quarters before Westfield took control.
Jaqueline Knapp finished with 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals for Westfield, which outscored SPF, 23-15, down the stretch. Lillian Scott had 15 points, five assists and three blocked shots and Hannah Liddy 12 points, eight rebounds and five steals for Westfield.
A tremendous rebounding effort by Thabitha Dwunfour, who had 21 rebounds, helped keep the Raiders (6-13) in the contest. Katie Harper led SPF with 15 points and six steals and Micaiah Battle finished with 10 points and six rebounds in the loss.
