Westfield PD Makes Arrest When Idling, Unattended Vehicle Smells of Marijuana

October 2, 2013 7:48 p.m.

Alex W. Pardon, 25, of Scotch Plains was arrested and charged with possession of more than 50 grams of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a prescription legend drug, possession of a prescription legend drug with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. On October 1, 2013, officers were investigating an unattended vehicle that was parked and running in the 1100 block of W. South Avenue. The driver of the vehicle was later identified as Alex W. Pardon. A heavy odor of raw marijuana was detected emanating from the interior compartment of the vehicle through the open windows. The vehicle was impounded after the driver refused to provide consent to search the interior of the car. A search warrant was approved by Superior Court judge on October 2, 2013. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed more than 50 grams of marijuana and paraphernalia. Pardon was processed at Westfield Police Department and bail for the possession and distribution charges was set at $7,500.00. No 10 percent alternative. A summons was issued for the drug paraphernalia charges. Pardon was released from custody after posting the $7,500.00 bail.

DaShawn Robinson, 19, of Plainfield was arrested on the strength of warrant #MC2012155286 in the amount of $100 issued by Newark Municipal Court. Robinson was also arrested for hindering apprehension after providing a false value to law enforcement officers. Robinson was transported to headquarters where he was released on his own recognizance and issued summons with a mandatory court date.

October 4, 2013 12:44 a.m.

Jeffrey Epstein, 54, of Stamford, Conn. was arrested for possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of Central Avenue near Dakota Street. Epstein was transported to Westfield Police Headquarters where he was processed and released with a summons.

October 4, 2013 4:03 p.m.

There was a report of a theft of a camera, valued at $125, from the outside of a dwelling in the 200 block of E. Broad Street. Suspect(s) unknown took the camera between 3:40 p.m. on October 2, 2013 and 4:00 p.m. on October 4, 2013.

October 4, 2013 4:50 p.m.

Ian Stabenow, 21, of Westfield was arrested at the intersection of E. Broad Street and Elm Street on an ACS warrant for $514 out of this jurisdiction. Stabenow was released after making a partial bail payment of $100.

October 4, 2013 8:50 p.m.

There was a report of a burglary/theft at a residence in the 1900 block of Boynton Avenue. Victim reported that on this date, between the hours of 5:30 p.m. and 8:50 p.m., subject(s) unknown entered his house and stole approximately $4,402 in valuables.

October 5, 2013 4:14 p.m.

Aswad Turner, 19, of Plainfield was arrested in the 800 block of Forest Avenue for Obstruction of Administration of Law. Turner was identified and released on his own recognizance.

October 5, 2013 4:24 p.m.

John Gallicchio, 49, of Westfield was arrested for hindering apprehension for providing false information to officers pursuant to a call of a verbal dispute. Gallicchio also had outstanding warrants out of Cranford $1,086 and Linden $750 and a Middlesex No Bail County Sherriff Warrant. Gallicchio was remanded to Union County Jail in lieu of bail and a no-bail warrant.
