WESTFIELD, NJ —The Westfield Recreation Department is hosting its 13th Annual Daddy-Daughter Dance on Sunday, March 30, at L’Affaire Fine Catering in Mountainside, NJ. The event is open to all first through sixth grade girls who live in the Westfield school district and their fathers. Dinner, dancing and activities will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
“The dance has grown over the years. It became so popular that the dance had to be held outside of the recreation center this year,” said Program Organizer Traci Kastner.
Dads and daughters can attend at a ratio of one to three daughters per father. Over 230 people have already registered—about 105 families. Attendees will enjoy top 40’s music with of DJ T Love and Emcee Marie Morelli.
“The dance will have a lot of activities of the dads and their daughters to do, like a limbo line, hula hoops and line dance contest,” said Morelli. In addition to today’s top hits, she said, “We will play songs from the father’s generation, like ACDC’s ‘You Shook Me All Night Long,’ and Ramones’ ‘I Wanna Be Sedated.’”
L’Affaire Fine Catering will serve a buffet-style dinner and dessert, with a nod to young girls in the form of chicken nuggets and fries.
Before the evening is through, fathers and their daughters will receive a 5x7 keepsake photograph provided by Lifetouch Prestige Portraits Photography and girls will receive a parting gift.
“The dance is a fun and rare opportunity for dads to spend a quality evening with their daughters. They’ll have fun, laugh and get a lovely portrait at the end of the evening,” said Linda Johnson, the recreation department’s senior transportation coordinator.
Tickets are now on sale from now until March 27 for $60 per person. To register, click here.
